"Close to my heart" - Patchwork

Hoje decidi falar sobre uma das técnicas de costura que eu mais gosto: o Patchwork. Esta técnica caracteriza-se sobretudo pelo uso de retalhos, combinando cores, tamanhos e formas. Com esta técnica é possível fazer trabalhos maravilhosos como acolchoados (ou "quilts" como são conhecidos), almofadas, carteiras, malas e até roupas.

Today I choose talk about one of the most amazing sewing techniques: the Patchwork. This technique is characterized mainly by the use of flaps, combining colors, sizes and shapes. With this technique it is possible to work as wonderful quilts, pillows, wallets, bags and even clothes.

Nas fotos podem ver como o patchwork pode tornar pequenos retalhos de tecido - que não iam servir para nada - em bonitos conjuntos. Neste caso, temos pequenos quadrados combinados entre si. Para que o patch fique mais bonito, há um truque a ter em conta que são as cores. Não importa se o tecido é liso ou estampado, o importante é que as cores combinem entre si.

In the photos you can see how the patchwork can make small pieces of fabric - which would not serve for anything - in beautiful sets. In this case you can see small squares combined.

For the patch becomes more beautiful, there's a trick to keep in mind that are the colors. If the fabric is smooth or stamped, it doesn't matter,  it most important  is that the colors match each other.

 

 

No que diz respeito aos tecidos se desejar já existem conjuntos à venda na internet ou nas retrosarias. Uns já vêm cortados com o mesmo tamanho, outros vêm em fat quarters (aproximadamente 50*50 cm). No entanto, se é costureira, se trabalha com tecidos e tem vários retalhos pode utilizá-los facilmente (uma boa forma de reciclagem).

Talking about tissue, if you desired new fabric sets you have some of them on sale on the Internet or in a local haberdashery. Some have already been cut to the same size like 5cm or 10cm, some are fat in quarters (approximately 50 * 50 cm). However, if a seamstress, working with fabrics and has multiple flaps you can use them easily (a good way of recycling).
